Timing 1 – 2300 Days

Determining the timing of future events is confined to divine revelation. Most of the so called revelation that I have read about from others has not come to pass and probably will not. I don’t think the Heavenly Father cared much about man in his depraved state to know much about the when of future events.

However, Daniel did receive divine revelation about the timing of some end time events. Those events surround the “sanctuary.” This “sanctuary” most likely is the rebuilt temple of the Jews on Mount Moriah. A lot of things have happened and are happening in the Middle East this year which very well may be leading to the rebuilding of the temple or “sanctuary” as defined by Daniel.

It is interesting that the disciples of Jesus asked him about the timing of the end while standing at the temple around 29 AD. That temple was destroyed 4 decades and a few years later by legions of Roman troops. It has remained in a destroyed state since that time. Soon it may be rebuilt.

Daniel 8:13-14 defines on how long this sanctuary will provide a daily sacrifice for the Jews and how long this sanctuary will be trodden under foot by the enemies of the Jews.

Daniel 8:13 “Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

This verse defines a length of time when the “daily sacrifice” would occur plus the time the “sanctuary” would be trodden under foot. This timing begins the first day an animal sacrifice is offered at the “sanctuary.” This timing ends when the enemies of the Jews are no longer there and the “sanctuary” is cleansed.

As of October 2011, this place has not yet been built. Some think a rather large and glorious temple will soon be rebuilt by the Jews on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. Yet, Daniel calls this structure a “sanctuary.” Perhaps the envisioned “temple” will be so small that it will called a “sanctuary” instead of a temple out of embarrassment Here at this “sanctuary” an animal sacrifice will be offered daily. Then that sacrifice will be stopped and the sanctuary will be trodden under foot by enemies of the Jews. Daniel 8:14 tells how long a time this will be.

Daniel 8:14 “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”

Daniel 8:14 tells us that the total time of the daily sacrifice and the time the sanctuary will be trodden under foot will be 2300 days. 2300 days is 6 years, 3 months, and 20 days.

Do the above verses apply to some future event yet to come or has this event already occurred??? Daniel 8:17 defines what time Daniel 8:13 and Daniel 8:14 are talking about.

Daniel 8:17 “So he came near where I stood : and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the visions.”

Daniel 8:17 defines that the timing giving earlier in verses 13 and 14 was for the time of the end. I don’t believe this time has come. There is no Jewish temple or sanctuary on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. There is no daily sacrifice has been reestablished by the Jews. So this time has not come yet.

Someday these events will occur. Perhaps that time is not too far away. We don’t know that exact day. But from the verses in Daniel 8, we do know that after the sanctuary is built and the daily sacrifice begins there will be 6 years, 3 months, and 20 days of both the daily sacrifice and the sanctuary being trodden under foot. Soon after this time Jesus Christ will return to establish his kingdom on the earth. During this time there will finally be peace on the earth. Until then there will only be more wars and rumors of wars.

I am looking forward to that day. Until then I do realize that before the Lord Jesus returns there will be great tribulation. I do think the world situation is setting up for that time now as well as the rebuilding of the “sanctuary” on Mount Moriah.
