His Joy is My Strength

The passage indicates that the people were burdened with the law and wept until Nehemiah preached the word.  They saw that if they would follow the Lord and act upon his Word an amazing transformation of their spirit would occur.  The transformation worked out in their lives and became  an understanding that truly His joy IS my strength.  In another place in scripture it says that His strength is made perfect in my weakness; possibly it is that in moments of our personal weakness, we catch a little glimpse of His divine majesty and provision for us.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.             2 Corinthians 12:9

Open your eyes and see; seek Him while you can.  Reach out to Him.  Taste, smell, and see Him at work in your life.

Notice that in the process of their ‘going’ in Nehemiah, they gave to others ‘not prepared’.  Do you suppose that blessing others and giving of time and treasure has a personal reward?   It is indeed good to understand the Word of the Lord and to do what it says!  It has real substantive merit in our lives and for eternity as well.

Listen to Him and to His Word and experience His Joy as you go.

Special thanks to Tarah Dawdy for this magnificent leap on the beach and the photograph taken by her brother Nathan.  You can see more of Tarah’s work here.  The idea for the graphic I created from the photo came from a phone call one day via Joan Fabiano in Michigan and is done with Tarah’s permission.

For in Him we live and move and have our being!

Blessings,

Sandra Crosnoe

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.                       Nehemiah 8:10
