To All,
Pass this along to anyone interested in taking our next
Oklahoma Handgun License class,
formerly called “Concealed Carry”
Next class is Saturday, March 16th, at 9:30 a.m. at Cedar Creek Range (36 miles east of Tulsa).
Class is 8 hours, so attendees need to bring a lunch. We take a 30 minute lunch break around noon.
Also required: a hard bill ball cap, semi-auto pistol and one box of 50 rounds of ammo.
Cost is $60 plus a $5 range fee.
We provide targets and eye and ear protection for those who don’t have their own.
We do have rental guns in 9mm, .45cal and .22. All are semi-autos. If you qualify with the semi-auto you can carry semi or revolver. If you only qualify with a revolver that is all you can carry.
We have ammo available which varies in cost depending on caliber (.22 $7 a box, 9mm $25 a box, .40 and .45 is $28 a box). Cost could change due to problems replacing ammo during the current shortage and we only sell to attendees who need a box for the class, not to the public.
If interested contact us via telephone to sign up. We require $35 in advance to hold a seat as the class size is limited.

Directions from Tulsa:
After passing Hwy 69 (Wagoner/Chouteau exit) continue east and stay in left lane. Do not get on the Cherokee Hwy 412 turnpike). Sign says Alt 412 toward Locust Grove.
The first intersection you will come to is county road S 437. This is also known as Sam’s Corner (old convenience store on the southwest corner with sign that says Sam’s Corner Store).
Turn right/south and go exactly 5 miles to Cedar Crest Baptist Church.
Turn left at the church and go one block to next T intersection. Turn right and go to THIRD gravel drive on left. You will see the range house next to the entrance with the sign “Cedar Creek Range” on the side of the building.
Turn in and park on the left side of the gravel drive in the grass down near the butts/target line. Classroom is next to the flag pole just north of the range (green metal roof).
Instructors are state certified handgun instructors and NRA certified instructors Craig Roberts and John Baker. Both instructors have career law enforcement experience and teach from experience unlike some SDA instructors with little or no law enforcement background. (Roberts is an Oklahoma SPOA Master qualified pistol shot and formerly a member of the Governor’s Twenty military pistol team. Baker is an NRA Training Counselor and can teach most NRA basic, advanced and instructor courses).

Some basic safety instructions from the NRA website here (much more info on site)

1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. |

2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger. |

3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does. |
