Terminate the OHIET Letters and Calls Needed for Monday Meeting!

phone ringing
Please see OK-SAFE post here for more details and background to this post.  Here are the phone numbers included there and below that you will find a couple of emails for examples as needed.  Please note that in general calls are better than emails because if there are enough of them they generate an office ‘buzz’ at the capitol, but you do whatever makes sense for you and your time schedules.
Health and Human Services Committee Members:

The first letter is mine and went via email to the entire committee.  The second letter is from Amanda Teegarden, the executive director of OK-SAFE also to the committee.  Bottom line, we need to terminate the OHIET or Oklahoma Health Insurance Exchange Trust ASAP!
.
Special thanks to Senator Nathan Dahm for leading the way on this matter!

Dear Members of the Health and Human Services Committee,
.

A quick note to let you all know that I very much agree that the OHIET should be terminated as rapidly as possible. I do hope all of you will stand up for the people of Oklahoma in protecting us from any further federal intrusion into matters best left to our state and our county and our family.

.

I would note that If we don’t collect and hand them the data, they will not have it.  I believe Ms. Teegarden’s letter below sums it up well, but I wanted you who serve on the committee to know of my position also.

.

I commend Senator Dahm for leading the way on this matter and I want my Senator to know of my stance on the matter as well.  I believe the people of this state have made their position abundantly clear.  It is important that our leaders do things to make sure we follow in practice what has been clearly spelled out in our founding documents and at the ballot box as well.

.

Thank you for your help in returning government to limited, constitutional matters and respecting personal responsibility and privacy along the way.

.

My health, my doctor, my business!

Begin forwarded message:
Dear Senator,

.

SB 219 by Dahm/Moore is scheduled to be heard in Health and Human Services on Monday, 2/11/13.This bill would cause the OHIET (Oklahoma Health Information Exchange Trust) to cease to be in effect as of Jan. 1, 2014.

.

I am asking that you please vote YES on SB 219. […T]his entity is using the SHIECAP federal grant money to implement the technological infrastructure necessary for what the public calls “ObamaCare” to work in this state.  This means the ability to transmit patient’s electronic health records intrastate and interstate.

.

This infrastructure is set up to eventually connect with the payers system (insurance exchange), completing the connections between patient, provider and payer.  (This is the crux of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and it’s predecessor the Stimulus bill.)

.

The people of Oklahoma clearly objected to “ObamaCare” with the passage of SQ 756 in 2010; these people believed they were sending a clear message – NO to this type of health care “reform.”

SB 219’s amendatory language:

  1. G. The provisions of this section shall cease to be in effect on January 1, 2014. As of such date, the State Department of Health shall fulfill the purpose set forth in subparagraph a of paragraph 2
  2. of subsection B of this section with respect to grants awarded prior to the effective date of this act, but no further grants shall be accepted for such purpose, nor shall any further action be taken with respect to the purpose set forth in subparagraph b of paragraph 2 of subsection B of this section.

….

Thank you,
Amanda Teegarden

My Letter to the Editor on Reforming Health Care Reform — Would you write one too?

Here’s a copy of my letter to the Bartlesville Examiner tonight on the topic of Health Care Reform (aka ObamaCare).  Perhaps you could write a letter of your own to your local paper.

A good friend of mine said recently; “The state of Oklahoma is busy implementing the provisions of  ‘Obama Care’, while appearing to oppose ‘Obama Care’.  Must be politics as usual in Oklahoma.”

Now’s the time. The legislative session starts soon – on the first Monday of February  – and the legislators are busy preparing their bill requests for 2012.

We need to remove the vital elements that have laid the groundwork for single-provider / single-payer ‘universal health care’ in Oklahoma. That means TERMINATING the OHIET Trust (or violation of free enterprise and privacy – a veritable cartel, if you will), return all federal grants for health insurance exchanges, and get out of the Medicaid program.  Medicaid (for low income) is a VOLUNTARY program which is being massively expanded to implement the health care law. Getting Oklahoma out of Medicaid is the only way out of implementing the law. Let’s return to fiscal sanity in Oklahoma please!  Oh and shhhhh don’t tell anyone but this would contribute significantly to fixing such problems as exploding debt and illegal immigration.

Bartlesville Examiner

Letter to the Editor regarding Reforming Health Care Reform

In November 2010, Oklahomans said “Yes” by 64% to a provision in the State Constitution which allows citizens to not “participate” in a health care system.  Oklahomans made a strong statement saying they were opposed to government-run healthcare and support free-market solutions. The State Legislature passed SB 1373, which established the Oklahoma Health Information Exchange Trust (OHIET), despite the wishes of the people.  OHIET can align Oklahoma’s health care system to the federal government’s standards and requirements; link to a national network and insurance programs; collect and share our personal medical data; and is “interopable” with global systems.  This type of health care system is doing an “end-run” around liberty, privacy and virtually any need for search warrants.

We need to remove the vital elements that have laid the groundwork for a single-payer health care system in Oklahoma. That means TERMINATING the OHIET, return all federal grants for health insurance exchanges, and get out of the Medicaid program.  Medicaid (for low income) is a VOLUNTARY program which is being massively expanded to implement the health care law. Opting out of Medicaid and terminating OHiET is the only way out. Let’s return to fiscal sanity in Oklahoma please!  Oh and shhhhh don’t tell anyone but this would contribute significantly to fixing such problems as exploding debt and illegal immigration.

Time is short. Oklahomans need to call their legislators and demand they terminate this trust before all personal liberty and privacy is eliminated.

For Life and Liberty,

Sandra Crosnoe
