It’s Official! Senator Nathan Dahm is running for US Congress – District 1 in Oklahoma

Nathan Dahm Announces Run for Congress
May 5, 2017
Broken Arrow— Senator Nathan Dahm (R-Broken Arrow) today announced his candidacy for Oklahoma’s First Congressional District. Surrounded by over 100 supporters, Dahm said he has a passion to serve God by serving other people, and believes running for Congress is his next step in that service.
“Over the past few years, we’ve gone on many journeys together, and today, I’m asking you to join me on a new journey,” said Dahm. “I have fought tirelessly to defend our Constitutional rights and worked to implement long term vision to make our state better for the upcoming generations.”
Oklahoma’s First Congressional District will be vacated by current Congressman Jim Bridenstine in 2018. If elected to Congress, Dahm said he wants to focus on free market principles as well as openness, transparency, and accountability in government, which allow the opportunity for success.
“When government is limited, we thrive,” added Dahm. “I will do all I can to limit government, and require it to be more efficient, less wasteful, and less intrusive in people’s lives and in their wallets. I will continually fight to uphold the oath I have sworn to defend the Constitution, to protect our God-given rights, and to restore the balance of powers between the states and the federal government for limited government operating under the principles of our Republic. I look forward to serving the people of this district as a guardian to protect their rights from all those who would infringe on our rights.”
Dahm was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 2012 and makes his home in Broken Arrow.

[Editor’s Note:  It is a thrill to know that Nathan Dahm will run for this open Congressional seat in 2018!  The first time he ran for the seat in 2010, he was not very well known in the district.  That will not be the case this time, being known as the guy who beat Piers Morgan on his own show!  He is the only announced candidate to my knowledge with an in office voting record and Nathan Dahm’s voting record is sterling.  He is one of the top ranked conservatives by multiple sources for multiple years.  More than that he is loved by the people he represents because he works to protect and defend their rights.  We need to keep this congressional district in good hands.  Go Nathan!  Our prayers are with you Nathan – may His blessings continue to be upon you!/sc]

NRA endorsements for key Oklahoma Senate races in Republican primary – Daniels, Dahm, Loveless

NRA Endorsements state by stateHighlighting some of the most important senate races across the state here in this post but you can see all the endorsements from the NRA here >>>.

Oklahoma State Senate District 29 – Julie Daniels (Aq)

Oklahoma State Senate District 33 – Nathan Dahm (A+)

Oklahoma State Senate District 45 – Kyle Loveless (A+)

NRA endorsement for Julie Daniels SD29

NRA endorsement for Nathan Dahm SD33

NRA endorsment for Kyle Loveless SD45

The NRA rarely goes against an incumbent with a good rating because they have an actual track record of voting rather than simply answers on a questionnaire. (Aq = rating on questionnaire / A+ includes voting records, ? = failure to respond) so when voting records are available that is factored into the endorsement rating.

Where is the Church? An Update on the Pro-Life Bill Happenings by Bob Donohoo

Article by Bob Donohoo on facebook
Oklahoma City, OK

Baby Feet on Red RibbonSeveral people have asked that I publish the numbers showing Oklahoma State Legislature support for the Pro-Life bill, SB1552, and the activities of this last Friday to override Governor Fallin’s veto. Based on conversations with several legislators and others allow me to give an account as I understand it.

On Thursday there were several senators and representatives working together to see if they could delay the vote on the budget bill in the House long enough to get an override of Governor Fallin’s veto in the Senate and over to the House. At that time the thought was that the Senate needed about three more votes for a successful override and it appeared achievable. Several senators were diligently working on gathering the final support. In the House there were about 10 representatives on board with doing what they could do to delay to budget bill vote but they had yet to fully socialize the idea with other representatives. There was also the challenge of getting the leadership of both chambers to allow a veto override vote to occur at all.

With only a 12 hour notice by email there were about 80 citizens at the capital Friday morning at 7:30AM to do what we could to encourage legislator support. These activists divided up into three teams. The largest share by far stood by the office doors of representatives waiting for them to arrive for the day and ask for their support of this strategy. There was a second far smaller team that stood by the three entrances to the House Chamber making the same request of representatives as they entered. A third team was assisting the senators who were engaged in getting the remaining support for an override.

Our efforts as engaged citizens worked in the House. The plan to delay the budget bill vote was discussed on the House floor and supported by enough representatives to make happen. On the Senate side the count was stalled at 23 in support of the Pro-Life bill, 3 maybes, and 3 against but would likely have flipped to yes votes should be bill actually be voted on. This left us 3 votes short of a successful override. The pool of remaining senators were either not facing an election this fall or were termed out. They simply had little appetite to stand up to Governor Fallin who was on the Senate floor solidifying support for her veto during these final moments of session.

Finally, while supportive senators were discussing what they could do to get around Senate Leadership and hold a vote anyway Senate Leadership ended session leaving unfinished business behind instead of risking a successful maneuver to get the Pro-Life bill heard on the floor.

It’s well worth noting, as told to me by one supportive legislator, that if there were a couple of thousand more citizens engaged this last week at the capital we would likely have our veto override. We were measured and viewed as lacking.

Every vote counts and as you well know leadership matters.  I believe that Randy Brogdon will lead with a message that stands on principle and the basic tenets of our constitution.  I believe he will both grow the party and unify us by his style, his principles and his message.  He is articulate, has a strong work ethic, is a successful businessman, and above all a gracious gentleman to all he meets.  As cofounder of R3publicans, an Oklahoma precinct chair, an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2012, and an Oklahoma Grassroots activist, Randy Brogdon has my whole-hearted endorsement for Oklahoma Republican Party State Chair.

Thank you for your service and your time as a delegate and an activist!

For Life and Liberty,
