Document-Randy Barnett - State Representative for HD10 p2 Tue Jun 24 2014

Randy Barnett is ready to go to work for you the taxpayer, protecting, preserving, and defending your rights. He knows the constitution and has always stood for you as a veteran and in the private sector too.

I wish I lived in his district and could actually cast a vote for him. The next best thing I can do is make sure all my friends know about him and remember to vote for him on Tuesday, June 24th.

HD10 covers parts of Washington County and Osage County and all of Nowata County.  There is a map of the district on his website.

Here is a vote reminder message from Randy Barnett himself.  I call him the taxpayer’s best friend in HD10.

Smart Meters for Everyone?! And a Little Rate Increase Too — Public & Planning Meetings Announced

I recently got this card in the mail. Did you?

PSO Return Address Card June 2014

PSO Card June 2014

PSO Rate Increase Meeting Tue Jun 17 2014 AEP PSO (pdf version of card downloadable here)

Here is the text version of card (below):

PSO is requesting an increase in rates of approximately $45 million of which advanced metering infrastructure is $7 million. For a Residential customer using 1,000 kWh/month, approval of PSO’s proposal would result in a total bill increase of approximately 4.31%, or around $3.97 per month.

A hearing on this matter will be held at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission located at the Jim Thorpe Office Builidng, 2101 N. Lincoln Boulevard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in Courtroom 301 beginning on the 25th day of June, 2014, at 10:30 AM. There will be a period set aside for public comment during the proceedings.

It was received from:

In preparation for the meeting on June 25th in OKC, Gary Kilpatrick has announced a meeting on June 19th @ 6:30 PM to get us all up to speed on the issues. Gary and I are in the Bartlesville area.  However, this should be happening all over the state.  So if you cannot join us please consider doing something in your area!  His invitation is below:
smart-meter

A PSO rate hearing before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission is scheduled for June 25th. A part of this rate hearing involves PSO’s request to install smart meters and the smart grid throughout their entire Oklahoma service area including Bartlesville.

Time is short to educate the citizens of Washington County to the downside of smart meters.

Therefore we are holding a Smart Meter Information Meeting this coming Thursday, June 19th at 6:30 pm in the Cherokee/Delaware Room at Tri County Technology Center, 6101 SE Nowata Road, Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Since this meeting is being called on short notice I would appreciate each of you spreading the word to those in your sphere of influence.

Gary

I have spoken with Gary since receiving his invitation and found out that he has invited Joe Esposito to be there and add his considerable expertise to the mix. Joe is from the Owasso area and has been working on this issue for several years.  His website is Stop Smart Meters in Oklahoma.  I am aware of his work through OK-SAFE.  I am sure this will be a valuable meeting and hopefully lay the groundwork for positive input at the state level on June 25th.  Please be there if you can and bring a friend!

League of Women Voters of the Bartlesville Area Candidate Forum on June 17th

Washington County Grassroots Encouraged to Attend & Ask Questions

LWV to host candidate forum – June 17th

To help citizens prepare for the June 24 primary election, the League of Women Voters of the Bartlesville Area will hold a forum featuring area primary election candidates on June 17.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Meeting Room in the Bartlesville City Center Building, 401 S. Johnstone Ave.

Candidates for the Oklahoma House of Representatives District 10 and the Washington County Commission will be speaking and answering written questions from the audience.

Seeking the seat being vacated by Rep. Steve Martin from the Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 10, are Travis Dunlap and Randy Barnett, both Republicans.

The other primary race of local interest is between Pat Evans and Mitchell Antle, both Republican candidates, who will compete for the Washington County Commissioner, District 1, position being vacated by Gary Deckard.

Area residents are invited to attend and will be given an opportunity to write down questions directed to one or all of the candidates. To schedule as many questions and answers as possible, League volunteers will read the questions to avoid duplications and a timekeeper will maintain time limits for the replies.

County commissioner candidates are scheduled first on the program, followed by the candidates for the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

LWV officials remind voters that Oklahoma has closed primary elections in which party candidates are chosen only by voters registered in that party. Although all the candidates speaking at this forum are Republicans, the non-partisan League encourages Democrats and Independents to attend and participate with questions.

The LWV statewide Vote411.org website is now open with statewide information including information from Oklahoma House District 10 Candidates. For more information about the local League of Women Voters, visit http://www.lwvok.org/Bartlesville.html. The local League’s e-mail is lwv__bvilleok@yahoo.com.

For more information about the forum, call the local LWV contact at 918-333-7007.
