A Blast from the Past: Ted Crosnoe on Isaiah 9

I hope something that I do or say will cause you to see my heavenly Father because that is the important mission. My earthly father, Ted Crosnoe, was a bible teacher; I am taking this opportunity to share a few of his teachings.  I am experimenting with Sound Cloud as a place to store some of his work.  Let me know how you like it.  I hope you enjoy and appreciate how much he loved the Lord and His Word.

This one is on Isaiah 9. It was given back in the 1960s at a bible study that met at a church before evening services.  It was recorded on cassette tapes and had two sides but the whole thing is approximately 52 minutes in length (side A + side B).

Isaiah 9 King James Version (KJV)

Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

11 Therefore the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of hosts.

14 Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

19 Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.

20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:

21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

A Man of God — A Tribute and a Testimony to Brother Frid

This book is very personal to me and my family.  My folks met the Lord with Jesse and a few other people many years ago in the 1960’s.  Our families visited together through the years and they taught us about their encounter with Jesus, their study of the bible and encouraged us to seek Him too.  I remember bible studies in various homes specifically for the children.  Many of the children met Jesus along the way and were baptized in the Holy Spirit as well.  They now have their own stories to tell and most their own families.  Special thanks to Jesse and my parents for pointing the Way and for bible teachers like Brother Frid, and Pastor Hong Sit and Derek Prince who gave us a firm foundation for life’s ups and downs.  A few years down the road, my dad became a bible teacher and I have a few of his studies on tape.  Jesse, retired now, has been writing and I am glad for the opportunity to share some of his work.  I pray it will be a blessing to many and that we will leave a clear path for those that follow us.

Thanks Jesse for putting this part of the story in print!

The Man of God - Brother Frid

The Preface to A Man of God by Jesse C. Jones

This is a story about a man, a place, and a time when the lives of many people were touched by a power they did not know existed, nor did they know that this power was available to them.  The man that God used to demonstrate this power was unassuming and  totally devoid of the pride of life that plagues most men, and has led an untold number into exaggerated self-esteem and conceit.  He appeared in this appointed place without fanfare, and he came into our lives as a result of an event that he had no part in, and, as far as I know was not even aware of.  That he had been prepared for this place and time seems to be without question, for things happened rapidly after he began to be used by God in the ministry to which he had been called.

Looking back on this time, some fifty years ago, makes me think about how a large storm moves through a place and changes everything, and then is gone.  Like many of the changes brought about by the storm, the changes wrought in the lives touched by God through this man have not gone away, for they were changes to men’s hearts, and all the issues of life come from the heart (Pr. 4:23).  I know first-hand about the changes in the lives of my family: this is something we will consider later in the book.  But to tell this story in any meaningful way I need to describe the effect of this man’s ministry on other’s lives.  There were many people touched by this outpouring of God’s grace and I am personally acquainted with only a few: many have gone on to their eternal reward.  I wish I had more detail on the life of the principal character, but he and his wife have long since departed, and after fifty years there are relatively few knowledgeable sources still around.  Nevertheless, I have used the contacts I could identify.  I pray that readers will be touched by this story as I have been through the power of God manifested in this man’s life.

A Gift that Time Travels and Cat Cartoons Too!

eye candyChristmas season means lots of different things to lots of different cultures, but one thing seems to be fairly consistent.  It is a time to give gifts.

When we think about that from a Christian perspective, the greatest gift ever given was the baby Jesus — God coming to earth to rescue man from the bondage of sin with the ultimate consequence of death.  It is a priceless gift beyond anything we can comprehend and explain to others.  To fully enjoy a gift one must unwrap it and embrace it and share it with others!  One would most naturally be thankful to the giver for the precious gift and say so in many ways.  We tell others about the rescue and that they can be rescued to, but some don’t even know they need to be rescued yet.  To those friends we stand ready to share in more appropriate times as the door opens for us to share.  This is an example of a gift that gives beyond life on this planet and steps into eternity.

I am going to tell you about a gift in my life that has given beyond the lifetime of the giver.  You have them too, but maybe this will help you put them in perspective and treasure them all the more.  Maybe this will help you package your gifts to others in such a way that they give beyond a lifetime.  Give them the story that goes with the gift.  Give them good memories.  Give them a treasure of wisdom, a sparkle of imagination, a blessing that multiplies.  Gifts of time and treasure accompanied with love and prayers are the best!

Back in the early 2000’s a good friend of mine who knew of my love for cats (he was a dog person), began sending me cat cartoons and cards rather routinely.  They were often accompanied with the political wisdom of the day also, but that is another story.  I always enjoyed the cards and cartoons and shared some further by email with personal notes back then.  I saved them and realized at some point that I had quite a collection.  It wasn’t until I started clipping and organizing them (with the help of another friend) that I realized how much time and treasure was in the gift of finding them and sending them to me originally.  They turned into a cat cartoon album that sits on my living room coffee table and has brought many a smile to many a guest and of course to me.

In 2006 I had a foreign exchange student named Hanna, who did the cover artwork for me as a gift.  She wonderfully captured the personality of my three cats Ivory, Ebony, and Peaches (L-R).  Ivory was primping, Ebony had on a top hat, and Peaches while she has a halo on her head was sharpening her claws.

Cats Do Talk by Hanna 2006

This year I scanned the pages and put the cartoon album online for my family for Christmas. Hanna’s artwork will be the cover online competing with the New Yorker cat cover on the album on my coffee table.   I hope the smiles will multiply from generation to generation.  There is nothing like the sparkle of light and laughter originally captured and put on paper by someone you love.  The light bulb moment shared.  The blessing multiplied.

Here is the album on scribd (and it is a work in progress).  It is dedicated to our family pets through the years.  There was Count, the pedigreed boxer and then Shadow, the miniature blue poodle and delight of my early years.  Then there was Pierre, the gray tom cat; then Tina the long haired white and gray talker (with a special bird trill alert alarm).  At the Caswell household, we have Calvin and Hobbes, the bengals  — smart, playful, and cuddly too.  Then there were the Garland ferrell cats —  Auria, Melody, Jazz and more!  And last but certainly not least the three pictured above, Ivory (blue eyed female with Siamese markings and playfulness too),  Ebony (golden eyed black male love bug),  and Peaches (green eyed Calico female with a  love of running water).

Some of the cartoonists collected over the years and included are listed below:

Happy Father’s Day Thoughts

Taking a little trip down memory lane, I did this post on facebook last night:

Facebook post on Father's Day June 16 2013

And then I began thinking about my Heavenly Father — you know the One Who Made us all?!

Father's Day Post

Photo credit: Rex Morache cover art from After the Big Bang publication

Father’s Day is not just about your earthly dad.  I am pausing to say thanks to my heavenly Father for all His tender loving care along the Way!  I am grateful especially for His patience, mercies, healing touches and gentle nudges at just the right time.  He does things in a way so that I can see and hear and understand a little more about Him each time!  The unfolding revelation and the comfort of His presence is beyond compare and an eternal promise.

I have a lot to be thankful for!

Blessings,

Sandie

Good Guys Don’t Always Wear White Hats!

Sandra Crosnoe with KBT hat Not long ago some of the Tapp family came to visit me in Bartlesville. We went to some meetings together and visited with friends and had a lovely time. While they were here, I borrowed Kenny Bob’s hat (briefly) and this picture was taken.

It is one of my all time favorite photos of me — genuine smile on this one.

Thanks for the visit and for making my day!

Blessings,
Sandie

Cats, Flowers and Valentine’s Day!

reminder-product-02

Recently I got an email reminder to send flowers for Valentines day so I thought I would do that — virtually!  Aren’t they lovely.  I’ve always loved flowers and just for the record, so do my cats.

In fact so much so that I usually keep them in the sink so that when (not if) Peaches pulls at the flowers and they fall over, I can fix them rather easily.

Yes, you learn these things after a few occurrences!

IMG_0292

True to form. Here she goes for the flowers. Good thing I’m a trained cat parent and the flowers are in the sink!

Guarding the flowers -- notice the ears! And you thought they were yours...

Guarding the flowers — notice the ears!

So send some flowers, share some love and have a Happy Valentine’s Day —

Oh yes, and don’t forget to pet the cat!
