Phillip Goodman experienced the loss of a son recently and takes a look at what really happens when a Christian dies or departs.  Ponder Jesus words to the thief on the cross.

Body-Soul Separation 

This is the physical death and is a temporary not a permanent situation!

Luke 23:43  Today you shall be with Me in Paradise

Living water / never thirst

John 5:24 passed out of death into life (to thief)

Never see death but you will see a separation of the soul from the body.

Spirit returns to God; dust/body returns to earth.

If anyone keeps my Word; he shall never see death John 6:40 5:24 8:51 11:25-26

“Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death” John 8:51

Carried Away by Angels

The Person in the Soul  (you don’t have a soul — you are a soul and you have a body!)

Reunion (a great reunion with those who have gone on before us)

the kingdom of heaven Matthew 8:11  note: heaven elsewhere now but ultimately will be new heaven and new earth . . .

PART II

Recognize

Who are you? Family Reunion in Heaven

1 Samuel 8:7  (know and from God’s perspective)

Hebrews 12: 22-24 (we will recognize all of the inhabitants of Heaven)

God the Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, old testament saints, new testament believers, tribulation saints, angels

Remembrance

Rest (from sin and death, and all it’s effects — disease, mourning, pain tears, etc)
