National Day of Prayer on May 2nd 2013

National Prayer by Greg Laurie

2013 National Prayer

Father, we come to You to pray for our nation, the United States of America.

How You have blessed us through the years, Lord! We rightly sing, “America, America, God shed His grace on thee.” Yet we see trouble in our culture today. We see the breakdown of the family, crippling addictions, and random acts of horrific violence.

Lord, we need Your help in America. In recent days, we have done our best to remove Your Word and Your counsel from our courtrooms, classrooms and culture. It seems, as President Lincoln once said, that we have “forgotten God.” But Lord, You have not forgotten us! You can bless and help and revive our country again.

Scripture tells us that “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). Lord, in Your mercy, we ask that You would exalt our country again. We have had a number of great awakenings in America. We have experienced times of refreshing, and revivals that changed not only the spiritual but also the moral landscape. As the psalmist said, “Will You not revive us again, so that Your people may rejoice in You?” (Psalm 85:6)

That is our prayer for America today, Lord. Send a mighty spiritual awakening that will turn the hearts of men and women, boys and girls back to you. You have told us if we will humble ourselves and pray, and seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways, that You will forgive our sins and heal our land. (2 Chronicles7:14)

Forgive us today, Lord, and heal this troubled land that we love so much.

We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Teegarden for OK GOP State Chair Announces Candidacy at OCPAC — Decision will be made April 20th at the State Convention in OKC

Amanda Teegarden Head Shot2Amanda Teegarden announced her candidacy for the State Chair of the Oklahoma Republican Party today. Teegarden’s experience in grassroots education and activism convinced her that “the only way to solve our current crisis is to truly become the party of the people… Oklahoma has a strong history of populism, based upon self-reliance, neighborliness, community and civic involvement that accounts for the unique character so many people admire in our citizens,” Teegarden said.

“That means making our precincts active enterprises for education and activism. The precinct is the smallest political unit in the nation and the most important. American government is designed to flow from the individual up to the precinct and beyond. We need to actively encourage participation in these neighborhood areas so we can help citizens restore good government to our cities, counties, state and nation, “ she continued.

Teegarden, of Tulsa, is the Executive Director of OK-SAFE, a non-profit educational and activism organization dedicated to restoring the principles of the American Free Enterprise system and Constitutional Government. She is a long-time grassroots activist, as well as being in national demand for her work on grassroots training and public policy.

Amanda feels that now is not the time for politics as usual; we must stop recruiting candidates who don’t understand the basic principles of our American system of government. “We need principled men and women of integrity to rise to the challenge of running for office to restore our nation. I intend to find them and equip them to win,” Teegarden said.

Amanda Teegarden for OK GOP State Chair

She was called by many supporters to consider running. It was a tough decision for Teegarden because last month she was elected as a member of the 1st District Committee. “After four days of prayer, thought and consultation,” she said, “I decided that I would accept the call and take on this new challenge.”

Amanda formally announced this afternoon at a candidate forum sponsored by Oklahoma Political Action Committee.

Her website is: Teegarden for OKGOP state chair/

Facebook Page: Facebook page for TeegardenforOKGOP

From her website, Teegarden’s reasons for running for State Chair:

“Amanda is motivated by devotion to principle, implementation of conservative policy, and effective grassroots mobilization. So she is distressed by recent rules changes by the National GOP to dis-empower the grassroots and put all the power to select candidates and state delegates into the hands of people who have lost the last two Presidential elections. She is dedicated to reversing this as State Chairman.

America is at an historic crossroads that will determine whether our grandchildren will enjoy the blessings of freedom or the curse of tyranny. Never has the need for principled, courageous state legislators, state, county and local officials, been so great to resist and roll back the power of the Federal government. As your next GOP State Chairman, Amanda will work tirelessly to help make Oklahoma the model for the nation.”

The Post Turtle

This is one of those emails that has been everywhere and everyone has already seen except a few of you and that is what this post is for — those few of you who like me missed it when it first went around the block…

Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old farmer, who’s hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.  Eventually, the topic got around to Obama and Presidency.

The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, he’s a ‘Post Turtle”.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ‘post turtle’ was.

The old rancher said “When you’re driving down a country road, and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top – that’s a post turtle.”   The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the Doctor’s face, so he continued to explain.

“You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him there to begin with.   All ya really know is ya gotta help take him down …”

My Congressman Jim Bridenstine — April Newsletter and Recent Votes — working to stop ObamaCare ASAP!

bridenstine200300April 2013

From the desk of Congressman Jim Bridenstine:

Restoring fiscal responsibility to Washington is one of the most urgent matters facing our nation. We must start living within our means and on a budget.  That is why I voted in favor of the conservative budget offered by Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin that would balance in ten years. Moving toward a point where federal spending does not exceed federal revenue will spur economic growth and real job creation. Such a plan is an immeasurable improvement over our current path of ever increasing debt and economic decline.
.
Washington, specifically the United States Senate, has not done its job of passing a budget for the last four years, so the federal government is forced to operate on a series of so-called “Continuing Resolutions” (CR) instead.  A CR keeps the government running but, just as the name implies, continues “spending as usual” rather than providing a path to fiscal responsibility. I saw the latest CR as the last, best opportunity to stop the wasteful and increasingly unpopular ObamaCare program in its tracks before it is actually imposed. No one in the House fought harder than me to stop ObamaCare.  I voted against the CR since it included full funding to implement ObamaCare, and moving forward I will work to defund, dismantle, and repeal ObamaCare at every opportunity.

Bills Stopped by Some Oklahoma Leadership in 2013 – Flyer Format to Share!

Sample from flyer:  SB 219 – Providing that the Oklahoma Health Information Exchange Trust (the OHIET) will cease to be effective

The OHIET is busy implementing the IT infrastructure in OK that makes “Obama Care” work.  It is the other “exchange”.

Senate Action:  This bill failed in the Health and Human Services Committees by a vote of 4-4.  Although this committee has a Republican majority, two Republicans (Griffin, Coates) joined two progressive Democrats in voting against this anti-”Obama Care” bill, preventing it’s advancement.
